My name is Daniel. I first visited China in January 2008, moving there semi-permanently about a year later. I spent four years living in Shenzhen, where I taught myself (Mandarin) Chinese while hustling for a living. In 2013, I moved to Beijing to pursue a Ph. D. in Linguistics completing my coursework and dissertation in Chinese. Now that blogging is an ancient relic, I reckon it is time to start one of my own.
